Mini workshop: Fake Fur

When winter comes a lot of people like to wear furry items to keep warm and comfy. Not exactly sustainable or animal friendly. But guess what... there is an amazing 'fake fur' alternative that looks luxe and real, but is made of a super sustainable fabric mix!

SATIFUR™

This sustainable and innovative fabric is called Satifur™ and has been uniquely developed by the Amsterdam based label Hoodlamb. Satifur™ is a 100% faux fur that is soft and breathable. It's made using certified organic hemp, PET and acrylic fibers.

PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate. It's a fabric that is made from recycled plastic bottles. The bottles are cleaned and melted down before the plastic is stretched into a fine thread. This thread is woven into a soft, durable, beautiful fabric.

Hemp is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics in the world and has been used throughout the ages for numerous purposes. As one of the strongest fibers on the planet, it's also the most resource-efficient fabric, adding nutrients to the soil and requiring absolutely no pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to grow.

A SURFER'S DREAM

In the early nineties, HoodLamb started out as a simple wish: to feel warm, comfortable and protected after an exhilarating day of surfing. The group of friends started to develop a really warm coat which they wanted to create in harmony with nature. Therefore they needed a fake fur lining, which they have been optimising ever since. Their search and development of the perfect coat resulted in an awesome collection: a much needed sustainable alternative for all those 'real fur' styles out there.
